[Advertorial/Sponsored] Review: Biore Micellar Cleansing Water

As you may or may not know, I'm a loyal fan of Biore Makeup Removers~~ Throughout the years I have tried their Cotton Sheets, Hydra Clear (one of my favorite products in the Year 2010-2011) and currently, I'm using their Aqua Jelly Makeup Remover, which is part of my holy grail products.

FYI, Biore is the NO. 1 Makeup Remover Brand in Japan! So, I was extremely elated when I know that I was given a chance to try their NEWLY launched water-based makeup remover called the "Micellar Cleansing Water".
Description: Micellar Cleansing Water is a wipe-off non-comedogenic, lightweight and refreshing makeup remover that lifts off makeup and dirt effectively in one wipe! After usage, the skin feels clean and refreshed with no sticky after feel.

It contains:
  • Watery Micellar Technology that effectively dissolves and lifts off all makeup including mascara and eyeliner
  • Pure Natural Mineral Water from the Northern Japanese Alps for a gentle and soothing formula
  • Enriched Collagen and White Tea Extract for brighter, softer and suppler skin
  • Anti-bacterial formula helps prevent pimples and breakouts, and minimises pores for a clearer and more refined complexion
4-FREE Formula:
- Alcohol free
- Oil free
- Fragrance free
- Colorant free
*Allergy and Ophthalmologist tested; Clinically proven!

Directions/Usage:
- Remove lock tab/stopper from the pump.
- Pump an appropriate amount onto a cotton pad
- Use soaked cotton pad to gently wipe off makeup
- No rinsing required
- For eye makeup, place soaked cotton pad onto closed eyes and hold for 5 seconds before gently wiping it off.
- Repeat until all makeup is removed, and cotton pad is clean

Net Weight: 300ml

Price: SGD$18.90

Packaging:
As seen in the first picture of the post, the bottle of makeup remover is packed in a transparent rectangular plastic box with details printed on it.

It comes in a transparent pink-color soft plastic bottle with a pink screw-off pump lid.

Similar to the Aqua Jelly Make Up Remover, this also comes with a lock tab/stopper to prevent spillage.

Consistency & Color:
It has a transparent, watery texture and it's not greasy at all. The skin may feel sticky right after application but once the product get absorbed/evaporated, it will not leave any sticky or greasy layer.

Scent:
This product does not contain any artificial fragrances; it's fragrance-free.

Demonstration on my mom's arm:
Flooded my mom's hand with lotsa makeup swatches — consist of waterproof and non-waterproof.
LET'S BEGIN THE CLEANSING DEMO~!!
Moisten the cotton pad with 2-3 pumps of cleansing water.
Started off with non-waterproof BB Cream
The BB Cream was completely removed in just ONE SWIPE!
Moving on to waterproof makeup with a new cotton pad~
First swipe:
99% of DollyWink Liquid Liner removed.
The Face Shop Gel Liner and Holika Holika Mascara still remained.
Cleansing the remaining waterproof makeup
together with the rest of the non-waterproof makeup... :
In just one or two swipes, it dissolved and lifted off all the non-waterproof makeup effortlessly! Whilst for waterproof makeup, it took more than two swipes to remove the liquid liner and mascara but it did not completely remove the gel liner, as seen in the following picture.

There were still some traces of gel liner left on the skin after swiping six times. It can't be removed unless I force it off.
Well..., some makeup products are designed to be waterproof yet clean off easily, while some are quite hard to clean off. With that said, I think this cleansing water may not be effective in removing those extreme stubborn ones. Also, the number of swipes it takes may vary depending on the formula and the amount of makeup you wear on your face.

Moisture Test:
Before the application of the cleansing water, my mom's skin moisture level is 36.0%.
After application of the cleansing water, my mom's skin moisture level increases to 48.3%.

So instead of losing moisture, my mom's skin moisture increases.
Therefore, I concluded that this cleansing water isn't drying at all. In fact, it hydrates the skin, leaving skin quenched.

Likes:
- water-based!
- 4-FREE Formula
- contains collagen
- anti-bacteria formula; prevent acne outbreaks
- non-comedogenic
- no-rinsing required; good to go to bed!
- easy to use — hassle-free; mess-free
- comes with a pump
- gentle; good for all skin types including sensitive skin
- not oily
- does not leave a sticky or greasy layer after application
- remove makeup effortlessly and effectively
- does not dry up the skin
- leaves skin quenched
- leaves skin feeling cleaned and refreshed

Dislikes:
- sting the eyes
- may not be effective in removing certain types of waterproof makeup

Verdict: Eyeliner and mascara are the only waterproof makeup I wear; I have a habit to use a separate makeup remover for the eye areas so... although this Micellar Cleansing Water did not do a good job in removing certain types of waterproof makeup, it doesn't bother me too much. On the positive side, it removed non-waterproof makeup effortlessly and effectively, without leaving my skin feeling greasy or sticky. It did not dry up my skin or cause any breakouts either.

Micellar Cleansing Water is a gentle, lightweight and non-oily water-based makeup remover which is perfect for all skin types, including oily and sensitive skin! As it's a non-rinse makeup remover, right after using you're good-to-go to bed. It's awesome and perfect to use on lazy days!

On a side note, I will usually still cleanse my face with a cleanser after using this product even though no rinsing is necessary. FYI, I called it "Double-Cleansing"~ It's just to ensure that all traces of makeup are thoroughly removed. :)

Where to get: The NEW Biore Micellar Cleansing Water is available in all pharmacies, hypermarkets and supermarkets, and major departmental stores.

Review: The Face Shop Face It Power Perfection BB Cream SPF 37/PA++ (#02 Natural Beige)

The Face Shop Face It Power Perfection BB Cream SPF 37/PA++
Description: A BB Cream providing total skin treatment, such as reenergizing the skin through power lifting, power moisturizing and power correction effects, to achieve "POWER PERFECTION SKIN" by imparting proactive care to overall skin problems, including bagginess, roughness and dryness. Containing omega-3 and the Vita-skin Complex, the BB Cream enables the skin tone to appear moisturized and radiant with a smoother skin texture. With an airy touch formula, it adheres in a thin layer as light as air yet flawless covers skin blemishes for a lustrous, healthy skin appearance.

Claims:
- wrinkle improvement
- whitening
- sunscreen triple-functional cosmetic

Directions/Usage:
After basic skincare, dispense an adequate amount and apply evenly to the skin. Then, pat lightly with the palms for full absorption.

Net Weight: 40ml (Available in 20ml too)

Price: ...sorry I forgot...

Packaging:
The tube of BB Cream is packed in a matte metallic purple rectangular paper box.

The tube itself is made with different shades of purple. It has a matte metallic purple plastic body with a light purple plastic pump and a transparent purple plastic cap.
(oh yeah~ I ♥ purple!)

Scent:
Mild scent. Nothing unbearable.

Consistency & Color:
The BB Cream has a light-medium creamy texture, which is very easy to smooth out and blend into the skin. It comes in two shades — 01 Light Beige and 02 Natural Beige. As you probably know Koreans have really fair skin tones so 01 Light Beige would be too light for me. Therefore, I got it in 02 Natural Beige. I think it matches my skin tone better. It has a grey-ish pinkish beige undertone despite that, it does not leave a grey cast on me. It oxidizes to my skin tone perfectly.

Coverage:
The coverage strength is excellent in my view. Though it does not 100% fully cover the light brown-ish post acne marks and redness of the zits, it does kind of lighten the appearance of the marks and the zits' redness. If I have to give a rating on the coverage, then it would be around high average range. FYI, I do still need a concealer to give a boost in coverage but nowadays, besides the dark circles, I don't really put on concealer on the blemishes. Despite not using concealer on the blemishes, no one commented on them or pointed them out so I think the coverage is excellent.

Coverage Demonstration:
The following pictures would probably give you an idea on the coverage strength of this BB Cream.
Coverage test on a scar on my mom's arm
You can compare the pictures BEFORE and AFTER the application of The Face Shop Face It Power Perfection BB cream. — With the application of BB cream (After), the appearance of the scar has lightened and covered up to 80-85% of it. I guess with the application of concealer, the scar would probably be hidden perfectly~ lol.

Oiliness and Oil-Control:
As you know, I live in hot and humid country so I get shine on my face very easily. With that said, I really can't tell whether it's the BB cream or the weather that causes the oiliness on my face. I would conclude that both the BB Cream and the weather play a part on the cause of the shine~ As for the oil-control ability, I can't tell either...but I don't think it provides any helps on oil control. Anyway, it's not an issue to me.

Likes:
- contains SPF 37 PA++
- gives a natural look
- high average coverage
- whitening brightening effect
- leaves skin looking dewy, semi-matte
- does not dry out the skin
- does not cause breakouts on my skin
- lasts-long
- easy to apply (blends in)
- suits all skin types including sensitive skin
- available in 20g and 40g

Dislikes:
- accentuate on dry, flaky skin
- range comes in only two shades

Neutral:
- not waterproof
- does not smooth out/cover pores; accentuate pores instead
- does not seem to have any oil control

Verdict: I usually apply 1 or 2 thin layers of this Power Perfection BB Cream with hands using gentle patting motion. It gives me a natural look(dewy, semi matte) with high average coverage that lasts pretty long, without being too heavy or drying out my skin. Also, it does not cause any breakouts on me. It claims to whiten skin but I'm not sure about that. I think it brightens up the skin rather than whitening. As for wrinkle claims, I can't comment much cause I don't have any wrinkles at the moment.

On the downside, it does accentuate on dry, flaky skin but don't get me wrong! This BB Cream suits all skin types including dry skin. BUT IF you get flakiness on your face very often, I would advise to solve the flakiness problem first prior applying this BB Cream. Hmm..., well, I don't think there is any BB Cream that won't accentuate the appearance of flakiness (correct me if I'm wrong...). On the other hand, this BB Cream does also emphasis on pores. Hence, if you care about the appearance of pores, it would be better if you use a pore cover primer beforehand.

All in all, I absolutely love this BB Cream despite the downside. FYI, this has been part of my routine for 2+ years. I have been using this BB Cream since I have bad acne and up to present, I am still sticking to it. Oh and... my mom uses this BB Cream too! It's one of our holy grail makeup products!♥

The cap of NIVEA Body Intensive Moisture Serum is well-wrapped with a plastic wrapper. The wrapper can be easily torn off at the tear line.

It comes in a cobalt blue, fuss-free squeezable tube with a white flip-on/snap-on cap.

This is how the opening of the tube looks like.
The serum can be easily squeezed out from the tube.

Scent:
I don't know how to describe the scent but it doesn't smell bad. It has a typical NIVEA products' fragrance, which I quite like~ :)

Consistency & Color:
Lightweight white liquid-y, serum-like texture. It may feel sticky at first but once it gets absorbed, it doesn't feel sticky at all; it does not leave a sticky or greasy residue once it gets absorbed.

Demonstration on my mom's arm:
(BEFORE)
Squeeze and apply an adequate amount of the body serum onto desired area.
...massage...
continue to massage until it gets absorbed... and wait for a minute...
(AFTER)
After absorption, the skin immediately felt softer, smoother and more supple to the touch!
Well, I don't know if you readers can spot the difference BEFORE and AFTER application... If you take a good look and compare the BEFORE and AFTER, you would notice that right AFTER application, the arm gave a dewy hydrated glow and it just looked brighter and healthier. The differences were really visible!

Likes:

- the formula — 100x concentrated Vitamin E, Grape Seed Extract and Hydra IQ
- helps with 10 types of dry and damaged skin

- leaves skin feels softer, smoother and more supple
- leaves skin a dewy hydrated glow and brighter looking
- gentle and does not result in thinning of skin; sensitive-skin friendly
- hassle-free and time-saving
- the scent

Dislikes:
- there's nothing I dislike about...

Verdict: I have to say that I love this gentle body serum moisturizer! Currently, it's one of my holy grail daily products. WHY? Firstly, it's a dual function body moisturizer — a moisture serum and a sunscreen (SPF25 PA++) — hence, nowadays I only have to apply one product instead of two, which saves the hassle and time. Secondly, as it contains SPF 25 PA ++, it helps to shield my skin from the sun damages. At the same time, it helps to repair and provide moisture to my dry skin, instantly makes my skin look brighter, healthier, more hydrated and feel softer and smoother to the touch! I can feel the differences right after application! How awesome is that!? Thirdly, it's not thick and heavy thus, it gets absorbed into the skin quickly without leaving a tacky or greasy feel. Perfect to use in hot and humid weather. So, these are the reasons why I absolutely adore it so much and I recommend you to try it too!

Review: Red Earth Professional Nail Color Nail Polish (06 Sunset Shell)

Red Earth Professional Nail Color Nail Polish (06 Sunset Shell)
Description: All you need to achieve flawless fingertips and toes. The collection of classic, modern and on-trend shades pays tribute to Australia's natural beauty. The professional two-coat formula is ultra glossy, long wearing and free from DBP, toluene, formaldehyde and camphor.

Directions: Apply base coat to clean, dry, filed nails. Apply nail colour starting with one stroke down the centre of the nail, following with strokes along either side of the nail. Apply a second coat of colour, all the way to the tip.

Ingredients: Nil or Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Disodium Succinate, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Hydroxyethycellulose, Methylparaben, PPG-10 Methyl Glucose Ether, Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Succinic Acid

Net Weight: 12ml

Price: SGD$15

I redeemed this nail polish from Sample Store and the color of the nail polish was sent randomly. So I received it in 06 Sunset Shell. It's a mauve pink-lavender color that is perfect for Fall/Winter season.

When I first received the nail polish, it was well-wrapped with a transparent plastic sheet, which in the picture, I have already removed it.
It comes in a sturdy glass bottle with a two-piece cap, which I don't really know what the extra cap is for... Anyway, both the caps are in matte greyish-black and are made in plastic. The square-ish shape with the engraved letters "re" is a pull off (extra) cap and the one attached to the bottle is a screw-off cap.

The nail polish comes with a broad brush tip similar to OPI, though it's slightly less wide than OPI, in my view, it still makes the application easy. The formula is excellent!; It takes two coats to get opaque. It applies smoothly and evens out perfectly by the second coat without any streaks at all! Also, it dries fast, leaving a 80% glossy finish.
P.S.: I'm not sure if it will chip or stain easily tho...

Note: Actual color may differ from picture. In reality, it's more duller... :
swatches show 2 coats with essie good to go top coat
Likes:
- free from DBP, toluene, formaldehyde and camphor
- packaging
- stay true to bottle color
- broad brush tip; easy application
- smooth, non-streaky formula
- dries fast
- glossy finish
- range consists of various colors

Dislikes:
- there's nothing I dislike about~

Neutral:
- without top coat, it's not very ultra glossy as claimed.

Verdict: I won't beat around the bush... I really like this nail polish because the formula, brush tip and color are great.

Guess what? People who reside in Singapore, you can redeem yours at Sample Store. Visit https://www.samplestore.com/r/89441 to redeem!
Note: It goes out of stock very quickly so redeem it while it's still available! If it's unavailable, then you may want to wait for the restock.

Alternatively, you can purchase it from BHG (Bugis), Metro (Causeway point), John Little (Plaza Singapura).

For the rest who aren't living in Singapore, sorry...I don't know where to get them in your country...

Review: Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Repair Eye Cream

Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Repair Eye Cream (15ml)
Description: Formulated with 80% of snail secretion filtrate and E.G.F (Epithelial Cell Growing Factor) that are effective in brightening skin around eyes and caring for wrinkles.

Benefits of Snail Mucus:

Claims:

Directions: Apply a small amount of eye cream to the eye area using a gentle dabbing motion.

Ingredients:
Snail Secretion Filtrate, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Niacinamide, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Glyceryl Stearate, Phytosqualane, Octyldodecyl Myristate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Peg-100 Stearate, Beeswax, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyacrylate-13, Polyisobutene, Polysorbate 20, RH Oligopeptide-1, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Seed extract, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Betula Platyphylla Japonica Juice, Adenosine, Caprylyl Glyocol, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Tropolone, Disodium EDTA

Price: *ooops, I could not remember...*

Packaging:
The product comes in a rectangular, matte metallic gold colored box.

One side of the box is sealed with a hologram Mizon's "Genuine Seal of Authenticity" sticker with "Mizon's logo" and the words ".Original Mizon." and "MIZON(in both English and Korean)". There is a "Korea Model Association Certification (KMAC)" logo printed on the other side of the box.

TIPS: Look out for the "hologram seal sticker" when you purchase any Mizon products. As long as there is such hologram Mizon's seal sticker on the package then no worries, you pretty much got the real stuff.

It comes in a squeezable metallic gold colored tube with a bronzy-brown plastic screw-off cap.

Color & Consistency:
(P.S: For application to the eye area, instead of massage in the cream, use a gentle dabbing motion.)

It has a white, soft, tacky and creamy consistency. It's light and thin thus, it gets absorbed pretty fast. It may feel sticky at first but once it gets absorbed, the stickiness will be greatly reduced. It's not very greasy and it leaves skin matte and hydrated.

Scent:
It does not contain any artificial fragrances but it does have a mild scent which I don't know how to describe. It has a similar scent to Mizon All-In-One Snail Repair Cream. The scent is not too strong hence, upon application, it's barely noticeable.

Likes:
- packaging come with a hologram "Genuine Seal of Authenticity" sticker
- formulated with 80% snail secretion filtrate and E.G.F
- moisturizing; not drying
- smooth out and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines
- prevent future wrinkles and fine lines
- brighten up the eye area
- cream is not so thick; it's light and thin
- fast absorption
- not very sticky and not very greasy after absorption
- leaves skin matte and hydrated
- free of artificial fragrances
- does not cause breakouts
- not harsh nor irritating
- product comes in tube form — more hygienic
- user-friendly (easy to use), travel-friendly, hassle-free

Dislikes:
- does not seem to diminish my dark circles and puffy eyes

Verdict: Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Eye Cream hydrates the delicate skin around the eye area without leaving a thick layer of stickiness or grease once it gets absorbed. It is not very heavy hence, it gets absorbed into the skin kinda quick.

Regarding to the claims on fine lines and wrinkles... well, I only have one mild fine line on each under eye area. After using this eye cream for about 3 to 4 months, the fine lines are gone and I feel the skin around the eye area is firmer. FYI, my mom also uses this eye cream. It is part of her skin care routine for more than a year! Up to present, the appearance of her wrinkles and fine lines around her eye have also reduced and the eye area feels more firmer too. We can totally feel and tell the difference! Take note that with long-term use, the results are more noticeable.

On the downside, this eye cream does not seem to diminish my dark circles. However, it does brighten up the eye area and create an illusion that make the dark circles less dark. The brightening result is subtle though. With that said, this might not be able to help much in treating and/or concealing extreme dark circles. In my view, this eye cream care more on fine lines and wrinkles.

Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Eye Cream comes in jar and tube. Jar contains 25ml of product whilst tube contains only 15ml of product.

I got it in tube because I find it is smaller, more compact and lightweight, which makes it more travel-friendly. Besides that, it is more hygienic and convenient to use in my opinion. I just need to gently squeeze the tube to get the product out and it's easier to control the right amount I need. As for the jar, in terms of hygiene, I need to use a spatula (included in the box) which I find it is harder to get the exact amount. I always dig out either too much or too less... Therefore, I think tube is more user-friendly, travel-friendly, hygienic and hassle-free than the jar one. It is time-saving as well, as I do not need to clean the spatula after each use. Despite it's a small tube but a little goes along way!

Great news..., I will be giving away 2 tubes of Mizon Multi Function Formula Snail Eye Cream and you can check out the giveaway here: http://bitsdiaries.blogspot.com/2014/08/ongoing-giveaway-07.html
